The Bongsusan Mountain (483.9m) was named so because it was reminiscent of the head of a phoenix. It is a relatively low mountain with gentle slopes extending along the Imjonsanseong Fortress toward the peak. Near the summit, there is a dense silver grass field, whereas the largest azalea field in the mountain can be seen below the fortress to the right.
Visitors can witness the beauty of the fall season in the silver grass field within the fortress. While hiking in this mountain, one can enjoy a scenic view of the Yedang Reservoir down below. Nearby, there is the Daeryeonsa Temple which was established by Uigak-daesa (Great Master Uigak).
